beautiful wedding at Sherbrooke castle
Alice & Thomas
14th July 2023
Alice & Thomas married at Sherbrooke Castle on the 14th of July 2023, a beautiful venue hidden away in the south side of Glasgow.
Alice and her wedding party spent the morning getting ready at home before heading off to the venue for the ceremony. Everyone was so chilled out and super organised. The hair and make-up even finished ahead of schedule which was great!
I was able to head off to the venue slightly earlier than I had originally planned. This is always a bonus for me as it gives me some extra time to get set up at the venue ahead of the ceremony.
Sherbrooke Castle is hidden away behind trees and hedges and feels surprisingly quiet and private despite being right in the middle of Pollockshields.
The ceremony took place in the conservatory at the side of the castle. The room is surrounded by windows so it's ideal for letting in all that natural light. The ceremony was a short humanist service with Alice and Thomas lighting a candle together to signify their new bond as a married couple.
After the ceremony, all the guests were led outside and down the stairs to the garden at the front of the castle. We lined everyone up on either side of the path and had them throw confetti in the air as the newlyweds walked past. The confetti shot is always a fun one to capture at a wedding!
We stayed in the garden area for the next while and got through the family, group, and bridal party shots fairly quickly. Alice had made a list beforehand so we were able to get through it easily.
I then spent another 10 minutes or so with Thomas and Alice taking some portraits of just the two of them together. We had discussed this part beforehand and neither of them was too keen on being in front of the camera so I kept it light and simple with my old favourite, the walking shot.
After wrapping up the couple's shoot there was still a bit of time before everyone was called in for dinner so Alice and Thomas were able to relax and enjoy spending time with guests. It also gave me some extra time to grab some candid shots of people mingling and having fun.
The evening entertainment was a great Ceilidh band called The Jiggers who kept everyone up on the dancefloor until I left to go home.
I had a great time at this wedding and I'm so thankful to Alice and Thomas for choosing me to capture their special day.
