Jennifer & Matthew
Dunblane Cathedral & Dunblane Hydro
10th July 2021
Where do I begin with this wedding?
Jennifer and Matthew are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. I had a lot of fun photographing them both!
The day started with wedding preparations for both bride and groom at the Dunblane Hydro. I was fortunate that I had time to capture both of them getting ready separately in different parts of the hotel. The girls in a hair and make-up room and the boys in a room upstairs.
One of my favourite moments of the day came when Jennifer sent a gift up to Matthew; a set of cufflinks featuring a blue french horn and a yellow umbrella. She also recorded herself singing 'La Vie En Rose' which the maid of honour played from her phone whilst Matthew opened his gift. If you're a big 'How I Met Your Mother' fan (as these two are) you'll understand the meaning behind it.
A quick toast with a shot of whisky and it was off to Dunblane Cathedral for the ceremony with its stunning gothic stone architecture, large wooden doors, and huge vaulted internal chamber.
Back at Dunblane Hydro for the reception, everything was Roald Dahl themed from the centre-piece decorations to the cake. There were even copies of the couples favourite Roald Dahl books on the tables.
The speeches were an emotional affair with Matthew having recently lost his mother and his father unable to attend due to poor health, it was a touching surprise to see that his father had pre-recorded a speech which was shown on a large projector screen whilst he was watching live via Zoom from a groomsmen's phone.
The day came to a close with a beautiful duet sung by Jennifer and Matthew. They choose this instead of a first dance with both admitting that neither of them is particularly good at dancing but they love singing together!
It was an awesome wedding and a pleasure to be a part of.
